THE HOLLOW
Upstate NY

Inspired by Woodstock and the Catskill’s musical history of the late '60s/early '70s, Space Outfit counter-intuitively leaned away from predictable rustic cabin décor and created a space that's Swedish commune meets nostalgic '70s American wreck-room. From the Adrian Purcell rocking chair, to the late 1960s dry-bar, the majority of rosewood and teak furniture throughout is vintage, supporting our clients' love of mother earth and sustainability. (It also helped to stay within budget.) The juxtaposition of sleek mid-century lines and bold color, pop art, against psychedelic textiles, Turkish goat rugs, and chartreuse wool and velvet pillows help keep this dark, wood and blue-stone home feeling like the soft, cozy retreat that it is. Because it is a second home, the client's construction budget for plumbing areas were limited. We opted for a mustard IKEA kitchen, accented with colorful vintage glass, wood accessories, white stone counter-tops, and top of the line modern appliances.
